Zantac Information
Your stomach makes acid which helps digest your food. Sometimes your stomach can produce too much acid, and it can flow back into your oesophagus (the tube joining your throat and stomach) causing acid indigestion. Zantac Relief belongs to a group of medicines called H2 Antagonists (or H2 blockers). Instead of just neutralising your excess stomach acid like and ordinary antacid, H2 antagonists work by preventing your stomach from producing too much acid in the first place.
Zantac Relief will help you as it:
- Controls acid production rather than just neutralising.
- Lets you enjoy food and drink.
- Can be taken before or after food.
- Acts fast, and provides long lasting relief.
Intended Use:
Zantac Relief tablets control excess acid for at least 12 hours, to bring you rapid and long lasting relief, day or night from indigestion and heartburn.
Symptoms of Indigestion:
- Discomfort and pain between your ribs and navel, when you eat or after you have eaten.
- Heartburn or reflux - described as a burning feeling behind your breast bone which usually occurs about 30 minutes after eating or exercising. It is caused when acid moves up from the stomach and irritates the oesophagus (the tube joining your throat and stomach).
- Too much gas, feeling bloated (may be relieved by burping).
- Feeling sick.
- Feeling full or needing less food than normal to make you feel full.
- A "lump" in your throat or having trouble swallowing.
Causes of Indigestion:
Indigestion can be caused or made worse by:
- Smoking
- Coffee and strong tea
- Alcohol
- Spicy and fatty foods
- Other foods eg chocolate and peppermint
- Pregnancy
- Weight increase
- Stress
- Rushed or missed meals
- Some medicines, eg aspirin or medicines for arthritis
